Qualified Professionals with Advance Approval according to Section 81a German Residence Act

The Skilled Immigration Act came into effect on March 1, 2020. Employers can launch an expedited procedure for qualified professionals according to Section 81a German Residence Act at the relevant Aliens Authority ("Ausländerbehörde") in Germany; this will significantly shorten the duration of the administrative procedure for the issuing of the visa. If all preconditions are met, the Aliens Authority issues an advance approval ("Vorabzustimmung"), which is sent to the employer to pass on to the qualified professional. The qualified professional can then book an interview appointment in this category to apply for the visa.

Without the Advance Approval, the submission of a visa application in this category is not possible.

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Accra is only responsible for applicants who are permanent residents in GHANA, LIBERIA and SIERRA LEONE. The Embassy will NOT accept visa applications of persons who cannot provide evidence that their habitual abode (permanent residence of at least six months) is in one of the aforementioned countries.

To book an appointment you will need your passport and an email address.

You will receive a booking confirmation via email once you have successfully booked an appointment. Please bring a printout of your booking confirmation on the day of your appointment.

On the day of your appointment the Embassy will crosscheck the information you provided on the appointment booking system (name and passport number) with your passport. You will not be allowed to hand in your application if the information does not match.

Please note that applications forms are available here, free of charge.

Detailed checklists with information on all necessary documents is also available on the website of the Embassy.
