German passports / ID cards

(For German citizens ONLY, NO Visa matters, NO Other consular services, NO Registration of birth or marriage, Certificate of no impediment, Name declaration)

To apply for a German passport or ID card, you need to get an appointment first. Before booking an appointment, please read the necessary information carefully. You will find them and the application forms here.

If you are not able to book an appointment in the foresaid booking period, it means there are no free appointments available left. Please try to book at a later date.

Please book only one appointment at a time and exactly one time slot per person (for example: a family with 2 children needs to book 4 appointments). If you want to apply for both a passport and an ID card you will also need two separate slots. Should you foresee that you will not be able to keep your appointment, please cancel it in advance, so that others may benefit. Depending on seasonal travel times, the Embassy may receive more applications during particular months. Thus it may occur that appointments have to be booked in advance and longer waiting times may result. This usually happens in the months from May to September and around national holidays. We suggest you book your appointment early enough to avoid delays to your intended travels.

Attention:

Is this an application for a passport or ID card in which a different surname should be used than the one in your previous document and you have not yet made a declaration of name before a German civil registry's office, please book an appointment for a declaration of name, registration of birth or marriage. This includes for a passport and/or ID card.

If you apply for a German travel document for the first time, in most cases it is necesssary to officially declare the name used in your German documents. If you are the parents of a newborn child and carry different surnames or want to bestow a double-barreled name on your child, a declaration regarding the name of your offspring is also necessary.

The Embassy offers you the possibility to apply for a German birth certificate for your child and to register her/him at the German register office. For more information please click here.

I have read the information for application of a German passport/ID card and I am aware of the fact that I may need to book another appointment if my application is rejected because it is either incomplete or necessary supporting documents are not provided.

Please click "continue" now to proceed with your booking.
