This appointment category is aimed at applicants who are actually and legally residing in Lebanon and who want to apply for a visa for a language course in Germany, for researchers, recognition measures for foreign education diplomas and self-employment.

If you want to apply for a student visa, please refer to the Consular Services Portal (https://digital.diplo.de/)!

Please read through the following information thoroughly and apply it to your booking:

1. Please enter all information exactly according to your passport and in Latin letters. Otherwise an appointment cannot be assigned. 

2. Please double check all your entries before submitting the registration form. If you enter incorrect information, you will not be granted access to the Consulate and/or your application cannot be accepted.

3. Please enter your personal data in the respective fields of the online form only: Enter your date of birth in the field "DOB" and your passport number in the field "passport no.". The embassy reserves the right to cancel your registration without prior notice or block you from entering the embassy if the entries have been switched or entered falsely.

4. Your e-mail address must be spelled correctly, otherwise you will not receive your booking confirmation. Please check your spam inbox, too.

5. You can enter additional information on your case in the form in the designated field. Please use this possibility if there is something special about your case that you have to tell us. It is sufficient to write your remarks in the form, you don't need to send an additional e-mail after filling in the form.

After you have registered successfully, you will receive two emails:

a)   Within 30 minutes you will receive a confirmation email containing your reference number.

b)   As soon as you have been assigned an appointment, you will receive a separate email containing the exact date and time of your appointment.

Due to the high demand for appointments and our further limited capacities due to the pandemic, several weeks can pass between the two email notifications. Please refrain from enquiries during this time. 

Please use the time until the day of your appointment to prepare your visa application. This is in your own and also in our interest, because well prepared and complete application files can be processed the most quickly and smoothly.

Examples for what you can do already now:

- Check our website for information on what documents you need for your application.

- Prepare these documents thoroughly (including: filling in the application form, making copies, etc). 

- Take care of necessary legalisation of Lebanese certificates. Appointments for legalisation are available through our service provider VFS in Beirut Hamra. Getting an appointment directly from VFS is free of charge!

- Make sure that you will be able to finance your studies in Germany. It has become harder to transfer funds from a Lebanese bank account to a German blocked account under the current circumstances. Please assemble information regarding your possibilities from different Lebanese banks and other financial service providers. You can also ask relatives/trusted friends in Germany, whether they are willing to guarantee for your expenses that might occur during the entire time of your stay in Germany by signing an official guarantee letter (Verpflichtungserklärung) - they can get more information on this from their Ausländerbehörde (Foreigners' Office).

- Learn German. – Even though the Goethe Institute is currently not offering group language courses at their school in Beirut, you have plenty of possibilities to learn German: Do exercises with German family members and friends, look for online learning possibilities (a lot of offers are free of charge), listen to German radio or watch German TV - there are many programmes in "easy German" that are produced especially for language learners, etc. There are many ways to prepare for your language exam at the Goethe Institute and - even more importantly - for your move to Germany.
