🛂 Appointment Registration for Family Reunion Visas – German Consulate General Erbil

✅ Who is this registration for?

The appointment you are about to book will enable you only to apply for a visa for a stay of more than three months in Germany for family reunion with a further family member (e.g. only adult children, step children, siblings, uncles, etc.), especially not with a spouse, minor child or fiancé.

Facilitated family reunification is only intended for members of the core family, meaning spouses and minor children of the applicant, over whom the parent living in Germany typically has sole custody. Other family members or relatives can only apply for family reunification under the provisions of Section 36 (2) of the Residence Act. According to this regulation, in addition to proof of secured living expenses for the stay in Germany, including sufficient health insurance coverage, a justification is required to demonstrate that the specific wish for reunification constitutes an exceptional hardship for the applicant themselves or their relative living in Germany. Fleeing and displacement due to a civil war alone do not constitute exceptional hardship, as this situation affects many people equally. The existence of exceptional hardship must be specifically demonstrated and related to the individual case. Since the application involves fees, please carefully check whether you meet the requirements before scheduling an appointment.

📧 After registration:

After successful registration, you will receive:

1. A confirmation email (please also check your spam/junk folder)

2. Around 4 weeks before your appointment, a second email with your exact date and time

📌 Important Information for Registration:

🔤 1. Use only Latin letters:

Enter all information using Latin characters only (no Arabic or Kurdish).

🧾 2. Enter correct personal information:

The information must exactly match your passport.

Do not register under the name of your sponsor in Germany or your parents – this will lead to rejection at the entrance.

📅 3. Use correct formats:

- Date of birth: DD.MM.YYYY (e.g. 15.08.1990)

- Syrian passport number: Capital letter N or P + 9 digits (e.g. N012345678)

- Iraqi passport number: Capital letter A or B + 8 digits (e.g. A12345678)
❗ Registrations not following this format will be deleted.

🔁 4. Only one booking per person: No double bookings! Duplicate entries will be deleted by the visa section.

👨‍👧‍👦 5. Children accompanying parents: Parents may bring minor children with them if applying for family reunion.

📂 6. Bring all required documents:

- Incomplete applications may be rejected.

- Bring all documents listed in the information sheet.

- We request missing documents only once! After that, the application will be processed as-is and may be rejected.

📬 7. Use a valid email address:

- Your email must remain active until the appointment.

- If you change your email: cancel the old registration and register again.
- We do not update or change your email for you.

📧 8. Enter your email correctly:

- Example: name@domain.com (without “www.” in front!)

- Otherwise, you will not receive confirmation and may miss your appointment.

Print it and bring it fully completed to your appointment.

📄 10. Follow the information sheet!

You’ll find the latest version on our website.
👉 Please read it carefully and bring all required documents.

💶 11. Fees:

The visa fee must be paid in cash at your appointment.

⏱️ One-time on-site grace period

If any documents or fees are missing at your appointment, we will give you one chance to leave the consulate and return within 30 minutes with the missing items.

❗ Important:

You must return within 30 minutes.

Submit all missing documents or payments completely.

📌 Please note:
If you miss the deadline or still fail to submit the required items,
your application will not be accepted and will be rejected without charge.
👉 You must then register again on the waiting list – a new appointment cannot be given immediately.

⛔ No response to individual inquiries

Please understand:

Due to high demand, we cannot respond to individual questions about your registration.

All resources are focused on processing appointment requests.

⏳ Good to know:

It may take several months between your registration confirmation and your appointment email.

Please do not send follow-up inquiries during this time.

✈️ Traveling from Syria

Are you currently in Syria and need to travel to Kurdistan for your appointment?

Please contact us via our contact form and choose:
"Entry from Syria to Kurdistan for appointment"

Then send us the requested information.

👉 We will forward your details to the Kurdish Ministry of Interior.
So far, entry has been smooth in all cases.

📌 Attention:
If you miss your appointment because you didn’t plan your travel on time, you will not receive a new one.
You will have to register again on the waiting list – no exceptions.
