Application in citizenship matters

You can book an appointment here for the following citizenship matters if you are a resident in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma or Texas:

- Submitting an application for naturalization within the context of restitution pursuant to Article 116 (2), first sentence, of the Basic Law (GG) or §15 of the German citizenship law

- Submitting an application for naturalization or naturalization of former German citizens (§13 or §14 of the German citizenship law) (fees for copy certifications apply)

- Submitting an application for application for the establishment of German citizenship (§30 of the German citizenship law), this process should be done if you have a more complex citizenship case, lack sufficient documentation and were explicitly requested by a German authority to undergo this procedure! (fees for copy certification apply)

- Submitting an application for Acquisition by declaration (§5  of the German citizenship law)

- Submitting an application for relinquishment of the German nationality (§26 of the German citizenship law)

Handing in your documents and application form in person at the Consulate General is not mandatory (only exceptions: Submitting an application for naturalization according to §14 and naturalization of former German citizens according to §13). In case you decide to hand in your documents and your application through postal services, you will have to obtain certified copies according to German standards of all the necessary documents through a German Honorary Consul and forward those to the Consulate or Federal Administration Office. If you book an appointment here to hand in your application and documents, the certified copies will be done at the Consulate free of charge (unless you apply for a Certificate of Citizenship, or a naturalization according to §14 or $13, these will cost a fee). Please note that if you book an appointment, there is no need to bring copies of the documents that are to be submitted, as the copies must be done by the Consular Officer to be able to certify them.

Please bring a duly filled and signed application form.

CAREFUL - it will not be possible to submit a passport application if you are booking in this category! Please only book a passport appointment once your citizenship procedure is concluded.

Please do not book an appointment for merely picking up a naturalization or citizenship certificate, you can pass by anytime between 09:00 and 11:00, Monday 'til Friday without appointment. Please only do so after the Consulate General has informed you that your certificate is ready for pick up, not when the Federal Administration Office informs you.

Please only book one appointment per family.

If you are unable to attend your booked appointment, please cancel it as early as possible, so other people may book it.
