Note to start: There are several sub-categories of family reunion that you can register for. Please only register for the sub-category of "family reunion to an EU-citizen" if your spouse holds the passport of an EU country, that is not Germany. If your spouse is a German national, or a Pakistani national with a German residence permit, you do not qualify for this category and your registration may be cancelled. You will instead have to register for the sub-category "family reunion to a German national" or if your spouse is Pakistani, then just mention "none" in the drop-down option while booking the appointment. 

Dear Sir or Madam,

on the following pages you can register for an appointment to apply for a long-term visa for family reunion or marriage (for stays exceeding 90 days).

If your registration was successful, you will receive a confirmation email with your reference number. As soon as your appointment was allocated – this may take at least one year - you will receive a second email (appointment email) containing further details about date and time of your appointment. This email will include two links, one to confirm the appointment, and one to cancel it.  

Appointments will be allocated chronologically. While entering your data, please note the following:

• When registering, please select the number of people who are going to visit the Visa Section under "number of visitors" (e.g. wife + 3 children = 4 visitors). Entry can only be granted to direct family members who are applying together for family reunion.
• All information must be entered in Latin letters.
• Please enter all your data correctly and without any mistakes, as you will only be admitted to the Visa Section of the Embassy if your name and passport number as entered in your passport exactly match the information provided in your registration.
• Your passport number must be entered in capital letters and numbers, as mentioned in your passport, e.g. KN5120391.

Please make sure to enter your email address correctly; otherwise you will receive neither a confirmation email nor an appointment! If the confirmation email is not in your inbox, please check whether it has been sent to your spam/junk folder.

Important information for family members of recognized refugees in Germany:

Registration to apply for a long-term visa for family reunion or marriage is not a timely notification in accordance with Section 29 (2) 1 of the Residence Act!

To benefit from a simplified visa process, the timely notification must be submitted by you or your family member in Germany within 3 months after recognition as a refugee. There are three options:

• You take the initial step of submitting a timely notification via https://fap.diplo.de/webportal/desktop/index.html#start. Follow the instructions and submit the timely notification document with your visa application.
• Your family member in Germany submits a timely notification at the competent Aliens Authority in Germany.
• You or your lawyer submit a timely notification by sending a letter to the competent mission abroad. Please provide the following information:
  • family name, given name, date of birth  and passport number of the applicants
  • purpose of your trip
  • family name, given name, date of birth and residence permit of your family member in Germany
