Booking of appointments for passport and identity card matters

 

Welcome to the appointment system of the German Consulate in Cape Town

 

Safety information:

For security reasons, it is not permitted to bring mobile phones, laptops, tablets or similar electronic devices into the Consulate General. Visitors carrying unauthorized items are not permitted to enter.

 

Through the appointment system for passport and identity card matters, the consulate is in a position to ensure regular and orderly public traffic throughout. This gives you the advantage of being able to book an appointment that suits you and you have a fixed date without long waiting times. You must provide a copy of all documents including a copy of your passport. We will NOT make copies for you. If you fail to provide us with copies, the application will NOT be accepted. You may not be accompanied by another person unless the application is for a minor (applicant plus both parents need to be present) or for medical reasons. You must please be on time for your appointment as if you are late security may refuse your entry to the building and you will have to reschedule your appointment

Please ensure to read all the instructions on our website carefully and prepare your application accordingly. We kindly ask for your understanding that these measures are necessary for everyone’s safety.

 

 

ATTENTION !

If you are unable to attend your appointment, please cancel it yourself in good time using the following link: ${cancel}, otherwise you cannot book a new appointment. The Consulate General can only cancel your appointment in limited exceptional cases.

Important information:

The Consulate General in Cape Town is responsible for the following provinces: Western Cape and Eastern Cape, North Cape and St. Helena.

Residents of the Eastern Cape region can apply to the German Honorary Consul in Port Elizabeth (https://southafrica.diplo.de/sa-de/sa-vertretungen/-hks/pe) for a passport/ID card.

 If you live outside this jurisdiction and apply for a passport or identity card at the Consulate General in Cape Town, you will be charged higher passport fees.

Please also make sure that you have registered in the correct category "Passport" for German passports and ID cards or "Visa" visas for Germany. If you log into the wrong category, your appointment will not be considered and will be deleted automatically.

Absolutely observe:

"Only German nationals can apply for a German passport. Therefore, only bookings where GERMAN / GERMAN-XX or DUAL citizenship is indicated can be accepted."

Please note that you must always state the correct passport number when booking your appointment. If the passport number on your written confirmation is not identical, you may be refused access to the Consulate General for security reasons. In your own interest, you should therefore always provide the correct passport number.  Incomplete or knowingly incorrect details in the reservation will lead to their cancellation.

Important information on naming rights:

If you require a name-law declaration, this must already be available before applying for an identity document or it must be proven that a corresponding declaration of name already exists. Applications cannot be accepted without the relevant evidence.

All required documents must be presented in the original plus an additional copy (not certified).
