Application for a German passport or ID card

If this is the first time you are applying for a passport, please contact the Embassy in advance. It is also possible to submit a birth notice (application for post-certification of a birth abroad) or a name declaration at this time. Information on applying for a passport or ID card can be found on the Embassy’s website.

Prerequisite:

1. Please read the information on the Embassy's website, in particular the information sheet.
2. Please obtain all the necessary documents mentioned in the leaflet (non-German documents with apostille and translation according to ISO 9:1995).
3. Please check whether a birth notice/name declaration is necessary. If necessary, please also prepare these documents. If you are unsure, please contact the Embassy.
4. Please ask any questions before booking your appointment (email: rk@(at)kyji.diplo.de).
5. Book an appointment. Each person needs a separate appointment. In the next step, please enter all the data of the person for whom the passport/ID card is intended (for a passport for a child: data of the child).
6. Please be on time for the appointment. Access is only granted to the person to whom the appointment was booked. In the case of minors, the child must be accompanied by the person entitled to care (parents do not have to book their own dates).
7. Do not forget the biometric passport pictures and money for the fees (cash in euros).
