Please note that passport applicants have to come to the German Embassy in person. This rule also affects minors. For pick-up you won't have to come in person. The person picking up for you will have to present a written approval from you, his/her own passport and your old passport.
Passports are valid for 10 years, if you are under 24, your passport is valid for 6 years.
A children's passport is valid for 6 years and can only be issued for children under 12 years of age. Please note that a children's passport might not be accepted in all countries.
Temporary passports are valid for one year.
The processing time for passports is approx. 4-6 weeks since we receive all passports from Germany. It is advisable to apply already six months before expiring date. Extension of validity or amendment to a passport is not possible. In urgent cases you might want to apply for an express-service (process time 3-4 weeks)
Children's passports and Temporary passports can be issued by this Embassy within a few days.
