Please check our website https://www.germany.info/us-en/service/04-FamilyMatters for information on the required documents and ensure that you bring all documents in their original form to your appointment. Simple copies or copies certified by a California Notary Public are not accepted by German registry offices!

The fees for signature authentication at the consulate are approximately $85 USD, and about $28 USD is charged for document copy authentication (fees may vary slightly depending on the exchange rate). If you have not already had your signatures on the application certified by a Notary Public, both spouses/parents must appear in person at the appointment. Otherwise, it is sufficient for one of you to present the application documents here.

Appointments are released a maximum of three weeks in advance. If you do not see any available appointments, please try again in a few days. Appointment times are only on Tuesday afternoons. Additional appointments beyond those times can not be offered.
