General information:
The German Embassy in Nicosia is responsible for issuing your passport or identity card if you live in Cyprus, have registered with a Cypriot community and are no longer registered in the Federal Republic of Germany.
You should apply for your new passport or ID-card approximately six months before your current document expires.
An extension of the documents is not possible.
Application:
In order to apply for your passport and your identity card, you have to apply in person. Minors under the age of 16 cannot apply independently, but they still have to appear in person at the Embassy for the application. In these cases, applicants are the parents with custody, who must submit the application together. From 16 years of age, the ID-card can be applied for independently. Each applicant, including minors, needs his own appointment.
Representation by third parties is not permitted, even if a written power of attorney is presented.
If your name has changed after applying for the last passport or ID-card, a name declaration may have to be submitted before applying.
The process takes about 4-6 weeks. It is not possible to apply for an express passport at this Embassy!
