A declaration of commitment is not required,

• if the visa applicant is the foreign spouse of a German or EU/EEA national. In this case, an informal invitation, the marriage certificate (original and copy) and a copy of the passport of the German or EU/EEA spouse are sufficient.

In all other cases, you can submit a declaration of commitment (in accordance with Sections 66-68 of the Residence Act) if you appear in person and present the following documents:

• Valid passport (original) of the sponsor
• Proof that you have your habitual residence in our consular jurisdiction - Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang Province - (e.g. by entering your place of residence in your German passport or by presenting the Chinese police registration certificate).
• Valid Chinese residence permit (residence permit for foreigners). If you have a Chinese visa for a maximum stay of 90 days, it is assumed that your stay in the People's Republic of China is only temporary. In this case, please contact the foreigners authority at your place of residence in Germany for the declaration of commitment.
• Copy of the passport of the person for whom you are committing yourself
• Bank statements of the last three months of a German bank account. If you only have assets outside Germany or outside the EU, we are generally unable to confirm your creditworthiness.
• Bank statements from the last three months of a German account. If you only have assets outside Germany or outside the EU, we are generally unable to confirm your creditworthiness.
• If necessary, further proof of your financial standing/creditworthiness. This includes, for example, payslips for the last three months, employment contract, certificate from the German bank confirming regular income for the last three months.

Please submit all available evidence in the original and as a single copy.

It is often not possible to demonstrate financial capacity by submitting only one document (e.g. only an employment contract).

When submitting certificates from your employer, please ensure that they clearly identify the issuer of the certificate.

The submission of a letter of guarantee costs 29 EUR, payable in cash in RMB or with an international credit card (Mastercard or Visa card only).
