A declaration of commitment is not required if the visa applicant is the foreign spouse of a German or EU/EEA national.
In this case, a simple informal invitation letter, the marriage certificate (original and copy), and a copy of the German or EU/EEA spouse’s passport are sufficient.
In all other cases, you may submit a declaration of commitment in person at the German Consulate General in Shenyang. Please prepare the following documents:
- Valid passport of the sponsor (original)
- Proof of residence within our jurisdiction (Liaoning, Jilin, or Heilongjiang Province), e.g. a local address in your German passport or a Chinese police registration certificate
- Valid Chinese residence permit (long-term). If you hold only a short-term visa (max. 90 days), please contact the immigration authority at your place of residence in Germany
- Copy of the passport of the person you are sponsoring
- German bank statements from the last 3 months (assets outside Germany or outside the EU generally cannot be considered as proof of financial means)
- Additional proof of financial capability, if available: e.g. payslips for the last 3 months, employment contract, or confirmation from a German bank about regular income
All documents must be submitted in original and as a simple copy.
Submitting only one document (e.g. employment contract) is usually not sufficient to prove financial capacity.
If you submit a confirmation from your employer, please ensure that the issuer of the letter is clearly identifiable.
The fee for a declaration of commitment is 29 EUR, payable in RMB (cash) or by international credit card (Mastercard or Visa only).
