Welcome to the appointment-system of the German Embassy in Kathmandu!
To apply for a visa for a stay below 90 days in the Schengen area you are required to make an appointment.
The online appointment-system enables the Embassy to provide an orderly and efficient service to its customers at all time.
You can find detailed information about the different types of visas and how to apply for them on our website www.kathmandu.diplo.de. Please visit our website and read the information carefully before making an appointment. On our website you will also find the necessary application forms. Please note that enquiries that are answered by the information provided on our website will not be replied to separately.
Incomplete applications cannot be admitted: the application will be returned without additional charges and a new appointment has to be arranged.
No multiple bookings are allowed! This means only one appointment per person and passport application. You will have to provide the number of your current passport during the booking process. Please understand that you will only be admitted into the Embassy's visa section if your passport number matches the information submitted in your reservation.
Please only book an appointment which you are actually able to keep. If you cannot keep an appointment that has already been booked you are kindly asked to cancel it online. This will help us to reduce long terms of waiting and leaves a gap for emergencies and applications of high urgency (cases as such usually involve illness or death of a close person). If you do not show up for your appointment without previous cancelation, the system does not allow rebooking during the next weeks!!! Please note that the improper use of the booking system will lead to the cancellation of the appointment and to the blacklisting of your email address. We strongly recommend to personally book appointments without making use of an external service provider. The booking of an appointment is free of charge.

EACH traveller needs to book an INDIVIDUAL Appointment!
For short-term stays in Germany, please apply at least 14 days before your trip. If the time between your appointment and your planned trip is less, your visa might not be ready in time.

National Visa (D-Visa)
Welcome to the Appointment-System of the German Embassy in Kathmandu!
To apply for a national visa for Germany you are required to make an appointment.
You can find detailed information about the different types of visas and how to apply for them on our website www.kathmandu.diplo.de .
Please visit our website and read the information carefully before booking an appointment. On our website you will also find the necessary application forms. Please note that enquiries that can be answered by the information available on the Embassy's website won't be replied to. Due to COVID-19, applicants from Nepal have to fulfill additional criteria. These will be checked during the application process.
Application for National visas for stays longer than 90 days are accepted for the following purposes, travelling is possible for:
- family reunion
- academic studies (also for DAAD scholars)
- working in Germany / skilled employmnet
- trainees
- medical emergencies
- unskilled employment (Au-Pair, BFD/FSJ)
For long-term stays in Germany, please apply at least 8 weeks before your trip, it is possible to apply for a visa up to 3 months before the planned departure. If the time between your appointment and your planned trip is less, your visa might not be ready in time.
It is required that you show up to the appointment in person. Please wear a mask and follow the hygiene regulations.

Please note that due to high demand, the appointment process for Au-Pair and FSJ (voluntary service) visa applications (D-Visa) will be changed as of 23.06.2022. You will no longer be able to book an appointment directly, but will register on a waiting list. The Embassy will then allocate appointments in chronological order of entries based on its available capacities.
We strongly recommend to book the appointment personally without assistance of an external service provider. The booking of an appointment is free of charge.
