Make sure to bring all necessary documents as listed in the visa requirements to avoid delays in the processing of your application.The German Consulate requieres O R I G I N A L Documents. Documents have to be hand signed.

Only applications filled out online from the Consulate/Embassy website will be accepted. Please fill out the application with all personal data exactly as it appears on your passport.
After completion, please print the form including the Annex page containing the barcode (only visible at time of printing). It is crucial that the barcode is not torn, folded or otherwise damaged at time of submission.

The German Consulate can o n l y accept applications if you are traveling to Germany as your main destination.

If you are traveling to more than one of the Schengen States, and the main destination is not Germany but another Schengen State (for example France, Italy, Spain), you have to apply at the Consulate of that State.

You should apply for a visitor visa (tourism, business trips) at least 2 weeks before, but no longer than 3 months before your planned trip. If the time between your appointment and your planned trip is less than two weeks, your visa might not be ready in time.

Residence visa (study, employment, moving to Germany) have a processing time of 4 - 10 weeks



Please note the following important regulations concerning your passport/travel document:

  • its validity has to extend beyond the duration of the visa you are applying for by at least 3 months
  • it has to contain at least two blank pages;
  • it must have been issued within the previous 10 years. If it was issued before that, your application can not be accepted. This rule also applies if the validity has been extended by the authorities of your home country.

If your passport/travel document does not meet  a l l  of these requirements, you will need to obtain a new passport before applying for a visa.

  • Please make an appointment in this category only if you wish to apply for your own passport or your own identification card. Should you wish to apply for a passport and an identification card simultaneously, please book two successive appointments. Passport applications received by mail cannot be processed.
  • Each applicant needs a separate appointment, even if they are members of the same family.
  • Please make sure to complete the application form and to gather all necessary documents (+ 1 set of copies) BEFORE you come to the Consulate. Incomplete applications will be rejected!
  • If in addition to a new passport/ID card you require other services, such as a name declaration, registration of your marriage or divorce in Germany or registration of a birth, you must book your appointment in the category Multiple Passport Applications, Birth Registration, Name Declaration
  • Please arrive on time. If you are late, we may not be able to process your application, in which case you may have to get a new appointment.
  • Booking an appointment at a specific time (i.e. 10 AM) does not guarantee that you will be able to come to the counter at exactly that time. Delays are possible and in some cases unavoidable. Please be patient and allow for some waiting time when you plan your visit.
