You can register here on a waiting list that corresponds to the purpose of your planned stay. The visa office will book the next available date for you.
Attention:
1) Please take the necessary time to enter all your details correctly. You will not be able to check the data you have entered after registration.
If your details are incorrect, you can cancel your entry and re-enter your name on the waiting list. However, the system will need time to process your entry, cancellation and re-registration. Please be patient if you are unable to re-register straight away.
2) Please only register in the category that corresponds to your travel purpose.

1. NEW: National visas for stays of more than 90 days - of researchers/full-time doctoral studies (including family members traveling at the same time), - for school attendance (including preparatory language course under 90 days) can only be applied for via our service partner VFS.Global. 2. Online visa application at the Consular Services Portal 最新发布：通过 在线申请通道 申请签证 Certain visa applications must now be submitted online. The following visa categories are currently available: - Visa for taking up employment e.g. EU Blue Card, skilled workers with an university degree / professional training etc. - Visa for study purposes incl. a preparatory language course, to find a study place or attend a preparatory college - Visa for vocational training, advanced vocational training or to seek for a vocational training place - Opportunity Card Required supporting documents can be added as PDF-documents. Applicants then only need to visit the visa section to submit biometric data (fingerprints and photo) and to pay the fee.

On the following pages, you may schedule an appointment to apply for a passport or a national ID, for family matters as well as for certifications of signatures.
Applicable fees can be paid in cash in RMB at the current exchange rate of the Consulate General or by Visa- or MasterCard- credit card in Euro. Other credit cards, WeChat-Pay, AliPay or cash in Euro cannot be accepted.
Local jurisdiction
The German Consulate General in Shanghai serves applicants with habitual residence in Shanghai, Anhui, Zhejiang or Jiangsu. If your habitual residence lies outside the a.m. consular district, please contact the relevant German mission in Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu or Shenyang.

If the appointment you have scheduled cannot be kept for reasons beyond the control of the Consulate General (e.g., short-term closure of the Consulate General due to extreme weather warnings or similar), you will be offered a special appointment at short notice.
