Appointment slots are opened about five weeks in advance. Occasionally appointments are cancelled and re-opened for booking.
The use of mobile devices may result in malfunction or incorrect bookings. We recommend that you book online using a desktop or laptop computer. If you receive any error messages, please reload the page. We also recommend that you clear your browser cache and then restart your browser.
If a minor has to submit an application, the presence of the legal guardian is generally required.
Please enter the name of the legal guardian in the "Accompanying Person" field. In these cases, the minor's birth certificate (or other proof of custody) and identity documents must also be presented to the security staff.
If you are uncertain, please enquire in advance by e-mail (info@toronto.diplo.de), stating the booking category.
Please note that you will be entering a restricted area during your visit to the Consulate General and declare your consent to the following points:
+ A security check will be carried out before you enter the waiting room of the Consulate General. Your ID will be checked and bags, mobile phones, smartwatches and similar items must be locked in lockers.
+ If you arrive late, you may be refused entry.
+ Only persons who were specified when booking the appointment can be admitted. In the event of incorrect / differing details, there is a risk that they will not be admitted.
+ You are required to confirm that you are aware of and accept these regulations when booking an appointment.

Schengen visa for short-term stays of up to 90 days (business, tourism, visit, airport transit)
Please only book here if you want to apply for a Schengen visa (stay up to 90 days) with Germany or Austria as the main destination.
If your fingerprints were taken during a previous application for a Schengen visa within the last 59 months, either at the visa section of a German mission or at the visa section of another Schengen State, you may be exempted from applying in person if your fingerprints can be retrieved in the system. In this case, you may send in your application by post.
Please take note that the visa section reserves the right to invite you to an interview at the visa section and also request additional information.
Please note that you must submit your application to the visa office in accordance with the statutory provisions of the Visa Code and within the specified time limit (at least 15 days before your planned entry). Please also take into account the delivery times of Canada Post!
National visa for long-term stays of more than 90 days
Certain citizens (incl. Canadian citizens) may enter the Federal Republic of Germany and reside there visa free even for stays exceeding 90 days. The necessary residence permit may be applied for within 90 days of entering Germany. Exceptions apply in case the person entering Germany intends to take up employment immediately after entering Germany or wishes to apply for an ICT card.

Consular Services Portal
The following applications must not be booked here but must instead be processed through the Consular Services Portal.
- Employment (Blue Card (EU), professionals, skilled workers)
- Job search (Opportunity Card, Conducting a qualification analysis)
- Family reunion (Joining a spouse, children joining parents, parents joining children, getting married in Germany)
- Study purposes (incl. study preparations and seeking a university place)
- Basic or advanced training and search for a training place
After you have submitted your application online, the visa section will conduct a preliminary review. Once this has been completed, you will receive a message to book an on-site appointment for applicants who have submitted an online application. There are a sufficient number of these appointments available without long waiting times. At the in-person appointment, you will present the required original documents, provide your biometric data (fingerprints and photograph) and pay the visa fee.
