I. Visa Applications

Thank you for your interest in visiting Germany!

On the next page, you will be asked if you want to apply for a “Schengen Visa” or a “Residence Visa”.

A Schengen visa is for short trips, including tourism and business trips, visits to friends or family in Germany, and airport transit.

A residence visa is the correct visa if you intend to move to Germany in order to work or study there, or to live there with your spouse or other family member.

Please make sure that you choose the correct category, as we cannot honor appointments that have been booked in the wrong category. If you are unsure, please send us an email to before booking a wrong appointment by mistake.

If you book an appointment in the wrong category, it will be deleted without further notification.

Please be aware that you need to book one appointment for every person in your party.

In order to avoid waiting times for our customers, please book only one appointment per applicant. Please note that the German Embassy will cancel your appointments, in case you book more than one appointment or the wrong category and that in this case we will not accept your application.

Additional important information will be sent automatically to you via email after you have successfully booked an appointment.

II. German Passport and ID Card

For detailed information on the German passport and ID card application procedures as well as a list of required documents, visit our website. Please familiarize yourself with the procedures before making an appointment for your passport application.

During each appointment only one application can be processed. Therefore, an individual appointment is required for every family member. Should you wish to apply for a passport and an ID card at the same time, please book two successive appointments. Due to high demand for passport application appointments, waiting times for an appointment may be increased. Please consider this while arranging your personal travel plans.

For your convenience, there’s now the possibility to have your biometric passport pictures taken at the consulate at a fee of USD 5. Therefore, a photo booth is located in the waiting room.

For payments up to an amount of EUR 1.000,-, the consulate accepts credit cards issued by Visa and MasterCard. Please note that all payments will be processed in Euro.

If you have any questions about the booking system, please do not hesitate to contact us by e-mail only at
