Passport renewal

Please book an appointment in this area in case you already have a passport and would like to apply for a renewal of your passport.

If you would like to submit several passport renewal applications on the same day, please make sure that you book one appointment for each application.

If you intend to apply for a first-time passport or the registration of your marriage or a birth abroad at the same time, please book just one appointment in the category for "family matters / first-time passport". In this case, please contact us via email before the appointment to ensure a smooth process.

PLEASE READ and NOTE:

Even for a passport renewal, you will need to present documentation. You will find detailed information and a list of documents required on our website. Please read through the information provided there carefully before booking an appointment. If the documentation is incomplete, applications cannot be accepted and a new appointment booking and another visit to the office will be required.

Please clarify any questions that may arise, before booking an appointment, preferably via email. Please be advised that we only conduct a pre-check. The final decision and processing of all applications will take place at the Consulate General in Sydney. They may request additional documents.

If your new passport will be issued in a different name and therefore an additional application for a name change is required, please do not book in this category, but only in the category for "family matters & first-time passport". This also applies if you want to register your marriage together with applying for a new passport.

If the name change has already taken place through marriage in Germany and you now want to apply for your passport in a new name, you are welcome to make a booking here in this category.

Family matters and first time passport applications

Please book an appointment in this area for the following matters:

  • Registration of birth
  • Registration of marriage
  • Change of name (e.g., after marriage or divorce)
  • Name declaration (usually when applying for a first-time passport) 

PLEASE READ and NOTE:

You will find detailed information on each of the different topics on our website, especially on the documents that need to be submitted. Please read this information carefully before making an appointment. Please be advised that these documents generally need to be presented as originals. If the documentation is incomplete, applications cannot be accepted and a new appointment booking and another visit to the office will be required.

We ask that you send the documents electronically in advance as a scan or photo to check for completeness, please as a file secured with a password. Please clarify any questions you may have before booking an appointment via email. We would like to point out that we only carry out a preliminary examination and that the final examination and final processing of all passport applications takes place at the Consulate General in Sydney. The final review and processing of all applications for a change of name, registration of a marriage or birth abroad is carried out at the responsible German registry office. Despite the preliminary check, additional documents may be requested.
